MY MOST RECENT TRIP (14/JUNE/02) WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING WITH JUST A SINGLE BASS CAUGHT OFF OXWICH POINT TOGETHER WITH ONE NICE SMOOTHHOUND PLUS DOGS AND WHITING, ALTHOUGH I HAVE HEARD OFF SOME EXCELLENT CATCHES OF BLACK BREAM OFF LANGLAND AND THE ODD MACKEREL OFF OXWICH POINT.

At last the bass have arrived, with plenty being caught of the Gower coast, also some good smooth hound fishing at the moment of the Gower headlands and rays and turbot on the banks (but still no mackerel).
I have been reliably informed that the boats fishing the Nash area are catching plenty of ray, conger, smoothhound, and turbot.

Plenty of bass now being caught on all the usual Gower marks. Although the average size is small we have been getting the odd 3 or 4 pounnders with the best so far being 6.5 pounds caught by Steve Jones. Along with the bass several other species are being taken including turbot, whiting, scad, dogfish and a nice surprise was a small ling caught off oxwich again by Steve Jones. But still the mackerel are very patchy.
